IndomitableTKD is a 'Carbon-Better' Taekwondo School!

What does 'Carbon better' mean?

Basically what it means is that we, as an organisation, are sponsoring the active removal of carbon from the environment through Kelp farming. Kelp grows quickly and sucks up plenty of carbon in the process, it then gets harvested and used in a variety of ways that keep the carbon out of the air.

As a Taekwondo school we're all about building a better future for our students so it seemed natural to do something like this and play our part in fighting climate change. I wanted to be able to say that we are carbon-neutral or carbon-negative (removing more carbon from the atmosphere than our activities produce) but unfortunately it wasn't possible to work out - only a very small amount of our carbon emissions (electiricity and heating at class venues) are remotely measurable, the rest (carbon resulting from student's journeys to classes) was impossible to estimate with any degree of accuracy.

That didn't put me off though!
As in Taekwondo, it's always better to be doing something positive, and we are! As our student numbers increase we plan to increase our sponsorship and one day we will become carbon-negative, it's likely we'll never know exactly when that happens but one thing we do know is that we'll always be carbon-better!
